Terms Of Service

Last updated: April 12, 2026

These terms summarize how you may use the Mesic Analysis Platform (MAP) website and related tools. They are provided for clarity and are not a substitute for legal advice.

Introduction

MAP is developed in partnership with Working Lands for Wildlife, the University of Montana, USDA-NRCS, and the Bureau of Land Management Montana/Dakotas, among others. If you have questions about these terms, contact us at technology@wlfw.org or via our contact page.

The Service

MAP provides interactive, planning-scale tools to help identify, monitor, and prioritize mesic resources, such as wet meadows, springs, seeps, and riparian corridors, across the sagebrush biome. Modules may operate at watershed (HUC12), landscape (pixel), or reach (valley bottom) scales. The website and tools are intended to support conservation planning and education, not to replace field verification, regulatory requirements, or agency processes.

Acceptable Use

You agree to use MAP only in lawful ways. You must not:

  • Attempt to disrupt, overload, or compromise the site or underlying services
  • Use automated means to scrape or extract data in violation of applicable terms or law
  • Misrepresent outputs as official agency decisions where they are not

Data And Third Parties

MAP relies on remote sensing, geospatial processing, and map services from third parties, such as Landsat imagery processed through Google Earth Engine and basemap or tile providers as shown in application attributions. Third-party names, data, and services remain subject to their own licenses and terms. You are responsible for confirming suitability of any outputs for your situation, including coordination with landowners, agencies, and qualified professionals.

Disclaimers

The website and tools are provided as is and as available. We do not warrant that results are complete, accurate, or fit for any particular conservation, regulatory, or commercial purpose. Satellite-derived and modeled information inherently involves uncertainty and scale effects.

Limitation Of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, MAP partners and contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of or reliance on the site or tools. Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with MAP is to stop using it.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
