Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 12, 2026

This policy describes how we approach privacy for the Mesic Analysis Platform (MAP) website. It is a plain-language summary and is not a substitute for legal advice.

Who We Are

MAP is developed in partnership with Working Lands for Wildlife, the University of Montana, USDA-NRCS, and the Bureau of Land Management Montana/Dakotas, among others. For privacy questions, contact technology@wlfw.org or use our contact page. Our Terms of Service also apply to your use of the site.

Information We May Collect

Depending on how you use MAP, this may include:

  • Information you provide: for example, name, email address, or message content if you submit a contact or inquiry form, sign up for updates, or email us directly.
  • Technical and usage data: such as IP address, browser type, device type, general location derived from IP, pages visited, and timestamps. This often comes from standard server logs or similar mechanisms operated by our hosting or infrastructure providers.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: small data stored on your device to remember preferences (for example, display theme), maintain sessions where applicable, or understand how the site is used if we enable analytics.

How We Use Information

We use the above categories to:

  • Operate, secure, and improve the website and MAP tools
  • Respond to inquiries and provide support
  • Comply with law and protect rights and safety

Sharing And Third Parties

We may share information with service providers that help us host the site, send email, or analyze traffic, subject to appropriate safeguards. MAP applications may load map tiles, imagery, or processing from third parties (for example basemap and geospatial data providers when you use interactive tools). Those services may collect information according to their own policies when your browser requests their content. We do not sell your personal information.

Retention

We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes above, unless a longer period is required by law. Technical logs are typically kept for a limited period.

Your Choices

You may be able to control cookies through your browser settings. You can ask us to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you where applicable law allows, by contacting technology@wlfw.org.

Security

We use reasonable measures to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above will change when we do. Material changes may be noted on the site where appropriate.
